Moving on from the Dance to Mayberry!

Well, today’s Tune-In Tuesday was going to be on Garth Brooks’ song The Dance, however the official video has been pulled from YouTube.  Okay, I understand that artist need to make money; they have families to support, but COME ON!  I have the CD!  Actually a few of them…    I’ll admit the song is kitchy and over used…  But it still makes me stop what I’m doing and listen…

In the words of Rascal Flatts – I’m MOVIN ON!

The last few months have forced me to ponder life in general.  No, I’m not dying…  I’m not sick.  (Hence the Not dying, Bucket List LIVING!).  Anyway, I have realized how much technology has gotten into our lives and has changed the way we interact with one another.  Basically for me, it is a great reminder to get back to the basics.  Nothing says that better than Mayberry – by Rascal Flatts.  Did I mention they sang the soundtrack to my life?

Thanks for the trip to Mayberry, boys!  Hugs to Gary, Jay and Joe Don!  Keep on rocking it out!  I may be moving on, but I plan on BUCKET LIST LIVING for a long time to come, I need more tunes!

Play the piano? NOT ME!

Several years ago my DH surrendered to the ministry…  When he first started out he filled in at various local churches.  I didn’t attend with him unless he was there for a few Sundays in a row because it was important for us to maintain normalcy for our DS in having a church home.  It would never fail when I visited the church with him he would introduce me and the church member would say, “Nice to meet you Kelley, do you play the piano?”
WHAT?  That’s the first thing that popped into your head?  Seriously?!?!?  UGH!  NO, I DON’T PLAY THE PIANO!  It is the two thousands!  This Preacher’s wife not only doesn’t play the piano, she also has a full time job AND love RASCAL FLATTS!  So there!
Okay, off my soapbox, what does this have to do with Music Monday?  Other than the mention of Rascal Flatts?  Ummm..  I gotta problem…
I have “play the BIG piano at FAO Schwartz” on my list…  I can’t play the piano!  Oh my!  Be careful what you wish for!!! LOL!  oops!  Now, I need a piano teacher..

Hebrews 10: 25 - Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

Sure, there are many reasons to be in church each week, just in case you want to see one in black and white – here you go!  J

SS Grandpa Gil and my Daddy!

The year was 1975…  It was September 4, just days before my Father’s 26th birthday, I was one year old and my Grandfather Pye died.  We had never met.  He knew I was here, but he was in North Carolina, busy working for McDonald’s.  His obituary, found online in October, revealed that he had a year of declining health followed by a week of critical illness before he died at the age of 49.  It also revealed a long history of service in the U.S. Marine Corp.  He retired at 24.5 years as a Gunnery Sergeant.
In all the years growing up, I learned little of my Grandfather Pye, now affectionately named Grandpa Gil in my mind.  (Not like he can argue with what I call him.)  He lives as a picture in my mind substantiated by a lone picture that hung in my parent’s room as I was growing up.   I can only imagine the man he was.  Thankfully Grandpa Gil has opened up a door that I never knew was there.  My Dad and I have always had a special relationship, probably because I’m the oldest and he has loved me the longest. (A joke for my Sisser.)  Having a 17 year old son I frequently look at my relationship with my parents and think about how things are different and yet the same...
It struck me today; my Dad has always been a grown man since I have known him.  Yea, I know what you are thinking, of course he is grown, you are grown, but I mean, grown/mature.  In looking into learning more about my Grandpa Gil I realize that my Dad had to grow up fast and take care of himself and his sister.  Then I came along…  My brother..  Then my sister…  And he was in college…  Working 2 and 3 jobs to support us…  In 1988, he got a job where he didn’t have to work as much and we got to see him more.  Looking back, that is when he came alive.  All of a sudden he had relief.  Money was better, he had a schedule, he enjoyed the work, loved the people…
Our lives are different now and our relationships are evolving.  I enjoy EVERY minute I have with my Daddy…  And learning about Grandpa Gil, what a blessing!  I’m connecting the dots.  I found where he was buried in North Carolina.  And found out that his wife, my Gammy Margaret is alive…  I’m trying to get all of the information together to plan a trip there.  My bucket list item is to see his headstone.  In reality this is the tip of the iceberg.  Looking for his headstone I am finding him and more about my Dad.  AWESOMENESS!
I have to add a shout out to my group Rascal Flatts and say congrats on the ACM nominations on Thursday.  As I was writing this a song came up on my iPod that really summarizes so much about where I am and this list.  The name of the song is When the Sand Runs Out.  Look at the lyrics!  WOW!  I told you they have been the soundtrack to my life!  This one is on the Feels Like Today CD.
I spent the morning at an old friend's grave
Flowers and Amazing Grace, he was a good man
He spent his whole life spinnin' his wheels
Never knowin' how the real thing feels
He never took a chance or took the time to dance
And I stood there thinking as I said goodbye
Today is the first day of the rest of my life

I'm gonna stop lookin' back and start movin' on
And learn how to face my fears
Love with all of my heart, make my mark
I wanna leave something here

Go out on a ledge, with out any net
That's what I'm gonna be about
Yeah I wanna be runnin'
When the sand runs out

'Cause people do it everyday
Promise themselves they're gonna change
I've been there, but I'm changin' from the inside out

That was then and this is now
I'm a new man, yeah, I'm a brand new man
And when they carve my stone they'll write these words
"Here lies a man who lived life for all that its worth"

And as the cold wind blows across the graveyard
I think I hear the voice of my old friend whisper in my ear

I'm gonna stop lookin' back and start movin' on
Learn how to face my fears
Love with all of my heart, make my mark
I wanna leave something here

Go out on a ledge, with out any net
That's what I'm gonna be about
Yeah I wanna be runnin'
When the sand runs out

Additions and updates

Golly, I have been so busy the last week it isn't even funny.  I mean, I posted for Monday and Tuesday last night at around 11 p.m.  (And my bedtime is 9!)  But I made a commitment to the site and want to do my best to follow-through with keeping ya'll updated.  (My 1 follower - thanks klp!)

So, what's up?  Work has been insanely busy.  Christian has been working on starting up his last semester of high school, ACT prep, Sr. Picture submittal, etc.  Dean and I are working on our next move in ministry TOGETHER.  And life beats on...

I wish I could say that I've been working on some elaborate plan to meet my list item du jour - but honestly I barely have time to sleep....  How do people do it?

Don't think I'm all melancholy over it though- you know what today is?  HAPPY RAINBOOT DAY!  (My own personal holiday that I proclaim anytime rain is 100% where I live/work).  So, if the opportunity presents itself - I just may complete a bucket list item of playing in the rain...  Yea, I know what you are thinking - haven't we all played in the rain when we were younger - most likely we have...  But this is on my list bc I feel like playing in the rain is a great reminder for us as adults -  sometimes you just have to live in the moment.  No matter what insanity is going on in life - you can CHOOSE to play in the rain.  If you wait, you WON'T!

Weather didn't play fair! Tonight it is like 40 degrees outside so I did not get to play in the rain....  Guess I'll leave that on the list for another day!

Okay, the list has been out here a while and I have had time to look at it in print and realize that not everything made it to my list…  My most recent additions, some I thought were on the list…  Oh, well, today is another opportunity to get it right!  Lol!

128.     Fly an airplane
129.     Go to the areas where St. Elmo’s Fire was shot
130.     Go to the Seattle Fish Market
131.     Go to the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta

Beyonce says it all!

Oh Beyonce…  You totally ROCK IT!  Just wanted to give a shout out for this AWESOME SONG!  If it wasn’t poor etiquette for music to play on websites, I would link this one in to my page – take a listen – I was here is totally a BUCKET LIST LIVING NOW song!!!

Still jammin... lol!

(I wrote this yesterday but didn’t find time to post it.  Better late than never!)

Well, today is Music Monday...  And I'm soooo glad!!!!  Today is all about some Kenny Chesney.  Why Kenny Chesney?  I never thought his tractor was sexy..  I actually thought it was annoying (sorry Kenny).  Then he did a duet with Uncle Kracker....  When the sun goes down...  This came out at a time in my life - My grandma - Nanny - had been gone for a few years and I was approaching my first big milestone since- graduating college - oh, would that have made her happy...  And that made me sad...  A few of the girls in my class and I decided to take a beach trip to the Bahamas to celebrate our accomplishment.  I loaded my MP3 player with the cd In the Sun and caught a plane...  There in the Bahamas on the beach with my earphones in, I closed my eyes...  And felt her smile while listening to the Old Blue Chair.  magical moment, truly magical.

Later he came out with a new cd called Songs from the Old Blue Chair. No matter what is going on I grab that cd, pop it in the player and i'm transported to the beach or traveling in a convertible down A1A.  Yep, it makes me happy!!!

If you want to have a Kenny Chesney moment - may I recommend - http://www.noshoesradio.com/ for your listening pleasure...

Praying that as each day goes by that the Lord will help me be in living a fruitful life..

New York City!

I have decided to focus on a few someone(s) special for the next few weeks.  Please bear with me.  My DH has a business trip to take in April to Boston.  I am thinking that while we are there I can visit New York City!  (insert cheesy salsa commercial pronunciation of NEW YORK CITY!  lol!)

Of course there are Bucket List items on my list in NEW YORK CITY!!  (Insert cheesy grin!)  On the famous people list - I have to consider who might be with me on the adventure and plan accordingly...

David Letterman - Mr. Late Night himself - how do I get your attention to do a Top 10 List with you?  I'm thinking you are ab to be the focus of my first video.  I have only a few weeks to get your attention - and a wing and a prayer to actually have our schedules work out...  Especially since there are many things I want to do in Boston too....

Nate Berkus - HEY NATE!  Of course I want to come to your show...  And if you feel led to crash my house and work on ANY room you are welcome.  I don't want to be selfish though, my  Bucket List Item was to come to your show...  I would like to meet you...  I'll settle for a grip and grin session...  I know you are busy...  And as with Dave, I really hope the scheduling works out!!!  I'll send you some video shout outs too!

Well, guys, guess I'll let you get back to life..  See you online...  And hopefully in April we can meet..

Everything in God's time!

Philippians 4:6-7
New King James Version (NKJV)
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;  and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Even though my focus is on Bucket List Living NOW, it is important I remind myself of this verse every day.  It is very easy to get anxious and excited to accomplish everything on my list TODAY, but that is not what the Good Book has to say….

Okay Lord, I hear you!
Hugs and Prayers!

S.S. Saturday

In this inaugural run of S.S. Saturday I find myself in a quandary…  Who is the first person listed on S.S. Saturday?  Who is more “Special?”  Now, if you know me personally, I think that is the most “special” person is me, not because I’m popular, cute and have all the cool stuff (YEA, RIGHT!), it’s because I rank in there as pretty goofy and downright peculiar at times…  No Amen’s required…  I know who is sitting in my peanut section – LOL!

However I have to admit, that I’m nothing without many S.S.’s in my life.

All of these pictures were taken at my bday party 2011…  Right at a year ago.  It was a pajama party at my parents…  And we had a BLAST!  J

Where to begin?  Let’s start at home – my DH of 19 years, Dean and my DS Christian – They provide me support in any and everything I do and make more sacrifices to help me live and realize my dreams.  Mostly they have to endure long out of the way car rides, grueling numbers of pictures and a messy house…  Yea, they should be sainted.

Of course, home is so many things and I can’t forget my family.  In the pictures you will meet my parents - Jerry and Donna Pye, my brother, CJ and sisser, Laura.  My parents are there with nothing but support and always an available house for crazy b-day parties I dream up and themed events such as 80’s Thanksgiving….  My Sisser, Laura drives me insane every day with edits to my site and additions she thinks are important..  Not to mention bugging me to get the site up, facebook page up and add more pictures.  That said, she is my biggest fan and has always been.  She doesn’t mind asking people for help in meeting my dreams and sharing my vision.  My Brother, CJ, has been my cohort in crime since the early days with our high-fives to boot…  He helped me work on the initial draft of the list and added some GREAT items…  Oh Brother the stories we are gonna tell!  Lol!  To round out the Pye tribe -  I have a WONDERFUL SIL who I can count on during Catch Phrase and really any other time to really GET me.  She gave me 2 blessings to enjoy – My nephew Richard Pye Jay Pye and the newest addition to the Pye name – Raylee (who was not born yet in these pics) – both of whom can sucker Aunt Boob – yes that says Boob – into many toys, clothes and fun kid stuff too.

And finally you have my friends…  What can I say I have the BEST!!!  Our histories are long and varied…  Oh the things I could share…  One thing I will say is this, tonight we were headed to one of my friends’ houses at 10 p.m.  I had texted to make sure it was okay if we came by to visit her.  Of course she said we were welcome and Dean asked…  Uh, Kelley, did she even ask why we are stopping by at this hour, didn’t she think that was weird.  Dean, none of my friends are surprised or even question why I do what I do….  Really, you should know that!  Lol!    Sorry to say all of them couldn’t make the party since I have friends from coast to coast…  Don’t worry, you will meet them along the way…

My most awesome MIL

So, to all my SS’s out there, MUCH LOVE!  And what does this have to do with Bucket List Living Now?  EVERYTHING!  Without all of the support, encouragement and love – wow – what fun would it be?

Photobucket

Why -Bucket List Living NOW?

This is the short answer -

Several years ago my sister and I went sky diving. A day later I visited my FIL who was fighting cancer at the time and I told him what I had just done, his reply - "I always wanted to do that and now I never will get to." Why do we wait until the end of our lives to start living our dreams? And doing the things we want to do? I'm done waiting on something else to happen before I choose ME - I'm bucket list living NOW!

Please join my adventure! If you wait, you WON'T!
