I'm Tracking!

A handy tool for tracking where you have been in the United States, whether it is on your bucket list or not, being able to track where you have been in the United States is COOL!

I have a whole tab dedicated to my various states progress and will try to update the map to as handy dandy reference!  I’m excited because we are going to Northern Arkansas for a church meeting and I will be able to visit Oklahoma while I’m there.  Seriously, I don’t know how I’ve never been to Oklahoma knowing it is only 3.5 hours away, remedied soon though!  J

On a sad note,  Boston has been cancelled due to Sr. Prom.  Didn’t realize when I made reservations that it was Prom weekend.  Will be costly to cancel the tickets, but being here for my DS Sr. Prom is PrIcElEsS!  Wouldn’t miss it for the world.. Or..  Er Boston as it stands!  Lol!

Boston and couldn't resist some beachy moments too!!

Not much to report today, other than the fact that I did get tickets to Boston secured!!!  Wo-hoo!!!  I do know of 2 people that aren't excited about a trip - my fur babies!  They don't like it when we are gone.  Olive and Lucy do have wonderful neighbors and family that step in to love and care for them, but they love their momma!

Our family has taken beach trips over the last several years.  By choice we like to find locations that allow our fur babies to vacation with us.  Our Olive hasn't been able to go to the beach yet, but I know she would enjoy the experience.  Here are a few family beach shots -

don't you think they are fur-fect?

Totally weiners!

That's the long and the short of it.

Do you take your fur-babies with you on trips?  Well, Olive says it's time for bed!  Look at this face, could you say no?

What's up? An ending for Nate and a stroll down memory lane!

Golly, what a week! (Obviously if I am posting Wednesday on Thursday)

How did I miss the fact that the Nate Berkus show has been cancelled?  Last week I was researching items for the potential trip to New York and looked to see when he was filming and was totally bummed.  Sorry Nate, I work.  I do DVR your shows, but I guess that isn't enough...  To make matters worse they only film on Tue-Thu...  We are flying in on Thursday...  To BOSTON..  :(  Totally Bummed...  All hope isn't lost....  the season isn't over yet...

Now for some good news - I found a few options for a drive-in theater in Arkansas.  Thanks to my Sisser and SIL for the link...  In case you want to find one near you -
http://www.drive-ins.com/

I spent a significant part of my childhood in Monticello, Ark.  Johnny and Peggy were family friends and they owned the walk-in and drive-in theaters.  I remember MANY a night spent, with Uncle Johnny and my Poppa, in the admission booth, playground and concession stand.  I thought I was in high cotton.  Anyone who knows me today will attest to the fact that I am a HUGE movie buff.  Not sure if that is the reason or not, but call me old fashioned, I miss the glamour of it all.  Now that most theaters are owned by companies, not individuals, the personal touch has gone by the wayside.  Drive-in movies are a full experience...  Okay, the quality of the screen isn't exactly state of the art.  The sound is likely not stereo..  But there is just something about movies in the open air.  All the cars lined up.  Before the movie you had the opportunity to visit without bothering the people next to you.  You didn't get in trouble for propping your feet up, there is a place for kids to play, optional outdoor seating near the concession stand, you have control of your own temperature and it is perfectly legal to bring your own snacks..

A flash back to that memory can be seen in the movie Hope Floats.  (Another something that reminds me of the importance of getting back to the basics - kinda like the song Mayberry from yesterday.)  Hopefully my DS, will enjoy the experience as much as I did.  Now, to work our schedule out.  It's always something isn't it?  Will keep you posted!

Trip planning to Boston or New York City

Looking over my list I was curious to see how many items were on it that involved NEW YORK CITY…  There are 15!
http://www.visitingdc.com/new-york/statue-of-liberty-history.asp

37.  Be on Saturday Night Live

69.  Ride a double decker bus – Doesn’t have to be in NY, but they have them there for tours…

84.  Buy something at Tiffany’s

95.  Do a Top 10 with David Letterman

96.  Spend a day with David Tutera – I would REALLY LOVE to see his warehouse – They showed it briefly in one of the early episodes of MFW, I don’t even know if he still has one in New York, but he did…  And I was AMAZED!

97.  Go to the Nate Berkus Show

100.  Play the Big piano at FAO Schwartz

102.  Walk through the stacks of books at the New York library like on Ghostbusters

103.  Go to Coney Island

104.  See a Broadway show on Broadway

108.  Ring the opening bell at the stock market

109.  Be at a GMA filming

110.  Have a true NY style Cheesecake from NY (no offense Chessecake Factory)

111.  Have a dessert at Serendipity

Okay, so as I plan our trip to Boston and working on a side trip to NY I realize that my time frame isn’t big enough.  Not to mention the fact that DH and I really want to see Boston too…  So, I’m in a quandary…  What do you do?  Fully enjoy Boston and miss an opportunity to do SOMETHING in New York on the list, or miss Boston and go for the gusto…

Comments/Suggestions…  Please…  Anyone…  Anyone…  Bueller…  Bueller…  lol!

Why -Bucket List Living NOW?

This is the short answer -

Several years ago my sister and I went sky diving. A day later I visited my FIL who was fighting cancer at the time and I told him what I had just done, his reply - "I always wanted to do that and now I never will get to." Why do we wait until the end of our lives to start living our dreams? And doing the things we want to do? I'm done waiting on something else to happen before I choose ME - I'm bucket list living NOW!

Please join my adventure! If you wait, you WON'T!
