Beginning of the end?
Wow! Today is the beginning of the end… Or so they say… Whoever ‘they’ are… Oh, wait, they are the MAYANS. Okay, now that we have that settled – what are you going to do? There’s only 365 days left!!!!
Now seriously, do I believe that the Mayans were right? NOPE – I believe in the GOOD BOOK
Matthew 24:35-36 Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away. But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only.
That was my soapbox for the day – that said, I do believe that it is an interesting way to remind ourselves to be reminded (and I do feel that we will be reminded a LOT!) that we don’t know how long we have left, what are you doing? You should be Bucket List Living NOW!
Bucket List work today – Oh, MY! You aren’t going to believe this! I found the oldest Dr Pepper bottler in world! I didn’t even know there was such a place! Yep, of course it had to be added to my list… I have been a fan of Dr. Pepper since I was a teenager! And even made a comedy character named Dr. Pepper! I LOVE Dr. Pepper! And with a handy dandy Groupon (http://www.groupon.com) I will be visiting Dublin Dr. Pepper Bottling Company (http://www.dublindrpepper.com/) on an upcoming mini after-Christmas vacay with my 2 favorite men – Dean and Christian-shhh - it's a Christmas surprise for them!

Jump on in, the water is fine!
Side note – This wasn’t on my original list… However I would like to say, don’t feel like you have to stick to 1 list. The more you learn, research and experience life your eyes will be opened to new opportunities. Add it to your list! Hey, a bucket list isn’t a onetime thing! Really, that is what started this idea of Bucket List Living NOW! My gf Susan had a daughter that she had given up for adoption. Susan and I have been friends for 7 years, most of the time I have known that. Anyway, when she shared it, I felt like I was supposed to help her find her daughter. Long story short – this summer I did! More on that story later….
After that happened I wondered… Hmmm… That was on my bucket list. As were some of the other items too… What happens if I run out? Not gonna happen… I don’t live in a box where I am made to pursue only the things on my list TODAY… Nope, I make my own rules… The list is a starting point, my imagination has no end! Just sayin! ;)

CARPE DIEM - dang it!
The year was 1989, the movie was Dead Poets Society (yes, I’m a sucker for 80’s movies) and that was the first time I was exposed to Carpe Diem. I was in the 9th grade. Really, what was more Carpe Diem than 9th grade?!?!? Lol! And add Robin Williams to the mix, words can’t even express my intrigue and interest in the movie… Um… Okay and Ethan Hawke! Anyway, as I watched the movie all those years ago I remember thinking, I will always seize my days. The world was my oyster. I had a LIFETIME in front of me!
Carpe Diem, a Latin phrase from a poem by Horace - Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero – translated means "seize the Day, putting as little trust as possible in the future." I’ll admit, Robin Williams had me at “Carpe Diem,” that said, Horace really puts it in perspective. Paraphrasing/rewriting Kelley style – Oh, you better do what you can today, who knows if tomorrow will have anything to offer! Now I know you are thinking that is one heck of a way to be pessimistic… Nooooo… I’m saying DO IT TODAY! Quit procrastinating and just DO IT! Think of how good you will feel to get something off of your to do list. This weekend I had the opportunity to milk a cow. I was busy cooking on Saturday, then on Sunday I was ready to get home and I didn’t make the time to milk a cow… Great… Now I still have that on my list. Next time, I’m staying later Kevin! And you are going to take me to milk a cow! :P
From the GOOD BOOK!
Luke 10: 38-42 As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what he said. But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!” “Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed—or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.”
Paraphrasing/rewriting Kelley style – Hey! Hey YOU! Quit worrying about all the little stuff you THINK you HAVE to do! Sit at the feet of the Lord…. Maybe after you milk your cow if that is on your list… lol!

Here’s a shout out to some of the special men in my life – as my BIL put it, the teacher, the preacher and the cattleman… Left to Right – Don, the teacher, Kevin, the cattleman and Dean (DH) the preacher. Don did take advantage to CARPE DIEM this weekend. He went hunting with Kevin… And missed the same deer twice… But you know what – he did more than I did – he actually took a shot! The only thing I shot was pictures... Yes, I was Martha... :(
Bucket List activity - Found a place to milk a cow - personal FAIL for not doing it this weekend!

Try on a pair of Jimmy Choo’s shoes! – DONE! Wo-hoo!
Okay, so I’m from Arkansas… And though I have traveled, watched movies, read magazines and shopped at many cool places – this bumpkin had never had on a pair of Jimmy Choo’s shoes. Say that 3 times fast – Jimmy Choo’s shoes – Jimmy Choo’s shoes – Jimmy Choo’s shoes.
It has been on my bucket list since I heard about them. Needless to say there aren’t many places in Arkansas that I have seen them. Okay, I have NEVER seen them in Arkansas – forgive me fellow Arkansans if you have seen them somewhere, I haven’t. Anyway, I went to Florida for my sister’s wedding in October and while we were shopping I found them. Actually, I spotted them – it was like a beacon across the store – we were in Saks Fifth Avenue – looking for my teenie weenie sister some jeans… And I saw them…. I will admit that initially it was a sale sign that caught my attention first. As I headed over there I saw the shoes, thought they looked different and interesting and then – AAAAhhhh – JIMMY CHOO!!!! What? Could it be? Yep, I found Jimmy Choo’s shoes! And I could have looked for some that were more, ummm… well…. More me, but these had found me!
These were the FIRST Jimmy Choo’s I could ever love on! I yelled for my Mom to come over. She was helping my twig sister, loser butt… Hello – she is a size NOTHING, get over here and help your child out who has nothing more awesome in this store to try on other than a pair of Jimmy Choo’s! Please understand, I love my Sisser. I really do love her… And it was her wedding weekend and all, but we had been to a hundred places where she had a thousand things to choose from… These were the only thing that would fit and didn’t make me feel frumpy… Well, other than the 2 Coach purses I bought… Anyway, I digress (and for my DH – both of the purses were on sale!) –
Back to the story - she finally got over there and I told her I wanted her to take my picture. (Keep in mind we are in Saks, so I’m trying to keep it on the down-low so that they wouldn’t make me take off the shoes.) She starts arguing with me over my choice of shoe and if this were on my bucket list, why would I want to have my picture made in those shoes since they weren’t even the most awesome shoe there…. UGH! THEY ARE THE ONES THAT FOUND ME! Finally, she takes the pictures… Then I take the shoes off. She sees how much they cost and all but made a scene again over how they could cost so much – more than our house payments… And people buy them. Not me of course – I took a few pictures to share with you and gently returned them to the box… Elated for my first meeting with Jimmy Choo. J
Dear Jimmy Choo – your shoes are really cool, thanks for the experience, however I don’t think I could justify spending more on a pair of shoes than I do on my house payment. In the event you would like to gift any shoes (preferably not that color and style) – the size is 8.5… Until then I’ll look at my pictures.

Why -Bucket List Living NOW?
This is the short answer -
Several years ago my sister and I went sky diving. A day later I visited my FIL who was fighting cancer at the time and I told him what I had just done, his reply - "I always wanted to do that and now I never will get to." Why do we wait until the end of our lives to start living our dreams? And doing the things we want to do? I'm done waiting on something else to happen before I choose ME - I'm bucket list living NOW!
Please join my adventure! If you wait, you WON'T!
